Over the last couple of days WCG have been announcing a few of the games that will be used during their tournament in 2007. Three more games are to be expected later on as well. One of the games that has been announced is, to the joy of thousands and thousands more, Counter-Strike 1.6. This eliminates the possibility that we see a Source tournament at WCG 2007.
WCG has walked in the footsteps of the CPL and ESWC and is at this moment the third event that has announced the use of 1.6 rather than Source. The bigger organisations that haven't yet announced anything are WSVG and KODE5.
It's not only Counter-Strike 1.6 that has been announced though, but games like WarCraft, StarCraft and FIFA are also games that WCG has chosen. We have yet to wait to see if they will have a tournament in Quake 3 or Quake 4. A great possibility is that one of these games is one of the remaining 3 to be announced.
These are the 5 games that have currently been announced:
Counter-Strike 1.6
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
FIFA 07
Starcraft: Broodwar
Gears Of War (3on3 for Xbox 360)
WCG will be held in Seattle, USA during the autumn.
