    Gameplay & Cosmetics
    + Switch now only works as long as the items of the leaver remain intact. Once someone leaves, the inventory of that hero becomes locked. Players can use an -unlock command, but once that is done switch cannot be used on that hero anymore. Once this feature is used enough to be considered stable, switch will be usable by default (-so mode won't be required) with the restrictions described above. The gold that the leaver is carrying is also frozen until the hero is either unlocked or swapped.
    + Added a new command, "-controloff"/"-controlon", to disable control help in the game (to prevent stuff like adding summoned units to your current selection: Invoker, Techies, Lanaya, etc)
    + Added a new test command to toggle creeps spawn off and on -spawnoff/-spawnon
    + Restored -mc, but with more detailed statistics to match up with the recently changed Multicast chance system
    + To prevent some abuses with -unstuck, it no longer works if your taking damage during the first few seconds after you enter the command
    + Doubled Satyr Trickerster manapool and purge manacost (primarily affects just stolen ability via Devour)
    + Fixed the teleport effects sometimes being visually on an angle
    + Fixed Nightcrawler status buff text format
    + Fixed Tango visual buff being slightly inaccurate (this is just a cosmetic improvement/fix)

    First release, updated to 6.62 and 1.24 compliant. Note that this is v0.21, and there will be bugs.
    Some abilities are not working for bots yet (they learn them but don't use them), and this is expected and will be addressed in future versions.

    Because of the amount of new code in this patch, I recommend tournaments wait at least a few days before adopting it.

    The new DotA version will be released today. This update is a technology update only. While it has no new content, it is a required step that we have to take because it is not possible to update maps on Warcraft 3 after 1.24 patch due to the new code architecture.
    I've rewritten most of DotA over the past 1-2 months to the new code base. If everything goes smoothly, this will enable updating to occur normally once again.
    Because of the amount of new code in this patch, I recommend that tournaments wait at least a few days before adopting this version.

  12. DOTA Allstars v6.61c

    1.24 Questions Answered
    There have been a lot of questions about 1.24 and DotA, so I'm going to take the time here to answer them.
    A new warcraft patch has been released with the focus on fixing a bug that could cause you to get a virus when joining a game. As a result of this, some core Warcraft 3 functions that are used in DotA and most other maps had to be removed. To make up for the significant loss in functionality, new replacement functions were also added to the patch.
    Some confusion comes from the fact that some maps like 6.59d work under 1.24. This is only partially true. There is nothing special about those maps, 1.24 is configured to run some maps in temporary 1.23 compatibility mode while 1.24 is further developed. The patch has not been properly configured to run 6.61b in this mode, so 6.61c will be released. That map has no changes except the version string.
    As a result of the function changes, maps are not cross compatible between 1.24 and pre-1.24. A lot of code in has to be rewritten for maps to become compatible with 1.24. The next version of DotA (6.62) has all of its code updated to follow the 1.24 requirements.
    As of right now, 1.24 still has various bugs in it's functions that prevent most 1.24 maps from running properly on it. As these issues get fixed in coming 1.24b/1.24c patches, 6.62 beta will be updated alongside them. As soon as the new patch is stable and 6.62 is tested on it sufficiently, it will be released. Hopefully the map will return to a stable code state in the very near future.
    Once the 6.62/1.24 situation is over, regular map development will resume. The versions that follow it will most likely focus primarily on balance improvements and performance tweaks.
    For people that cannot easily do multiple patch upgrades (net cafes for example), I recommend you wait until 1.24b/c is released before undergoing that effort.

    This temporary mode changes the rune system to a more experimental one. I will be changing how -er works from version to version to try out different ideas. I don't plan on any one version of the new runes to replace the current system directly, so do not panic Well Instead, it will be used as something to create discussion, spark ideas, find flaws and playtest different concepts over time.
    How -er works for this version: Runes spawn simultaneously on both sides at 3 minute intervals (instead of 2). Again I have no plans to make this permanant.
    Notes: I wanted to release this sooner rather than later because of some important code fixes. I am planning on finishing the traditional .x9 quest for v6.59b (along with some more balance tweaks) and then followed by TC in 6.60 if everythings work out right.
