Now that we have information about the strength and dexterity requirements of weapons and armor, figuring out the builds of non spellcasters for the game is much, much easier.

First, some ground rules.

1. All armor and most weapons require strength. The only exceptions are daggers, shortbows and longbows which require dexterity (crossbows require strength) and staffs, which require magic.

2. A few item types are sadly useless. There's no point in using a shortbow in the game unless you can't find a better longbow. Longbows have marginally higher dexterity requirements, and only moderately better damage and armor piercing, but a 75% longer range. As we will also discuss, heavy shields are pretty worthless.

3. The warriors main melee weapons come in three styles - swords, axes, and maces/mauls. Each comes in one and two handed versions. Swords have the highest damage, but the lowest armor piercing ability. Maces/mauls have the lowest damage but the highest AP. If you're playing a pure melee fighter, I'd switch back and forth between swords and maces depending upon having armored or unarmored foes, although keep in mind if you're sword and shield you may need a second shield for your second configuration. If you're using ranged as your second configuration, I would go axes, as they balance out damage dealing and AP ability.

Anyway - onto the builds:

Dual-Wield Rogue: A lot of powergamers are going to be unhappy. Strength requirements for weapons are ridiculously high - you'll need 31 just to weild the best longswords by the end of the game. Because of this, there's really no reason to ever use anything but daggers - meaning the last rank of the first dual wield tree is also useless. Stop increasing strength at 20 early in the game. This will give you a moderate damage bonus until lethality kicks in, and allow you to wear all leather armors by the game's end. Your dexterity only needs to rise to 35 - you could make due with 30 if you skip evasion, but I'd suggest you take it since you're going to be doing melee. Besides that, it's cunning all the way (for lethality bonuses and talent requirements up to 22), and a mixture of willpower and constitution so you'll be able to hold up in melee combat

Ranged Rogue: Overall, the stats aren't too different. You don't want to bother with strength over 20 (max needed for light armor). You need a dexterity of at least 34 to wield the best longbows in the game - one point higher to get evasion. But given the importance of dexterity in ranged combat, you may prefer making it your pump stat. If you have another rogue in the party consider stopping cunning at 16 and having the other party member being the sneak/lockpicking rogue - lethality is useless to you. You can also make due with a slightly lower con, allowing you to beef up willpower and dexterity further.

Two-Handed Warrior: Your only real concern is strength. You need 38 to wield all two-handed weapons, and you need 40 to max your talents - you might as well put two more points in and be able to wear massive armors. Dexterity is unimportant for this build - the only real requirement is 18 for the warrior talent disengage. Like all warriors, magic is nearly useless, and cunning is useless except for coercion if it's the PC. Therefore, any remaining attribute points after strength should be put into willpower (to cut massive fatigue) and constitution (since you can't dodge well, you'll be getting hit a whole lot). Don't even bother with a ranged weapon alternate - you'll probably be able to use a crossbow if you really want though.

Weapon + Shield Warrior: You need a good balance of strength and dexterity. Strength needs to be 32 at minimum to master all of your weapons and strength-based talents, and dexterity 26 to master all shield based requirements. How you split the points besides is up to you. Personally, I don't think it's worth investing in massive armor for this build - heavy (38 str requirement) is probably good enough. With heavy and a kite shield, you have an armor value equal to 97.6% of the armor value of massive armor with no shield, plus an extra four added to your defense. You'll also have a lower fatigue penalty than if you wear heavy armor, meaning your willpower won't have to be so high. Of course, one could argue that what weapon + shield excels at is tanking, but I think a balanced mixture of strength, dexterity, willpower, and constitution works best for this build after awhile. Bows and especially crossbows (see below) work as good alternate weapons for this build.

Dual Wield Warrior: Probably the hardest to do. Your dex requirements are actually higher than a rogue, as you need 36 to get the now useful dual weapon mastery and put a non dagger into your off hand. However, if you want to wield something beyond daggers (why else would you make this build) you'll need 32 strength at least. Since speed, and not heavy hitting, is the point of dual wielding, there's no point trying to get into massive armor. I wouldn't even use heavy armor with this character. However, adding only two more strength points (34) you will be able to wear all medium armors in the game. Having comparably high strength and dexterity means something's going to suffer. Given you'll need stamina for your talents (albeit less than other warriors because you're more lightly armored), your constitution will likely be what suffers. Stay out of harm's way and flank the enemy. Bows or crossbows work fine as alternate weapons.

Ranged Bow Warrior: This build is essentially identical to a ranged rogue. You'll be wearing light armor (strength 20) and want to pump your dexterity up to 34 by the endgame. The main difference is talents. Since there are less warrior-specific talents, you'll be able to master the entire archery tree quickly. If you get stuck in close combat, use a ranged weapon

Ranged Crossbow Warrior: This build works a bit different, as a crossbow has moderate strength requirements rather than dexterity requirements. As you'll need 30 strength to wield the best crossbow in the game, you can have this character wear medium (or even heavy) armor without much trouble. Of course, you'll still need moderate dexterity to work on the archery skill tree. Honestly, I think this works better as a "B" skill set for a weapon & shield or dual wield warrior.
