vOv Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 (edited) 10 Commandments of Quake 4 :: I-V Posted by digismack 19 + I. Thou shall know thy map. One of the most important elements of being good at any first-person shooter game is to know your surroundings. In Quake 4 this is no different, in most cases knowing your surroundings and how you can interact with them will give you the upper hand against an enemy. II. Thou shall try to get spawn frags. Spawn frags, or conversion frags as some like to call them, are an integral part of building a lead in Quake 4. When you frag your enemy and can quickly frag them again before they can pick up weapons or items, you can quickly build upon your lead. Racking up spawn-frags makes a world of difference in a match-up between players of similar skill. III. Thou shall not be predictable. When your enemy knows what you’re going to do before you do, you lose. It’s always a good idea to keep your enemy on their toes by being unpredictable. If your enemy doesn’t know what you’re going to do, you now have an advantage. IV. Thou shall learn to crouch-slide. The ability to crouch-slide (or crotch-slide, as some call it) has introduced a whole new world of movement abilities into Quake 4 multiplayer. For those who don’t know what crouch-sliding is, it’s when you jump in the air and before you land you hit the crouch key, once you hit the ground you begin to slide, carrying on your momentum. You can then use your strafe keys and mouse to navigate yourself around sharp turns or even pull off some sick trick-jumps. I suggest that you try this in-game and master it, as it helps out immensely to be able to move around the map quickly during a match. V. Thou shall time thy items. If you don’t time your items, you won’t move up to the next skill level. Timing items is one of the simplest things to explain, yet most difficult skills to master. Each item in the game has a specific respawn time. If you are on-top of an item when it spawns, your enemy can’t get it. VI. Thou shall not check thy accuracy during thy match. It may be tempting to check your accuracy statistics during a match, but in fact this is one of the biggest distractions you can put upon yourself during a match. It’s difficult enough to time items, locate spawns, remember positioning, and win fights all at the same time; but if you’re constantly checking your stats during a match it just makes these activities that much more difficult. VII. Thou shall tweak thy config. There are tons of little tweaks you can add to your config file to give you more steady frames-per-second, smoother internet play and other small advantages. VIII. Thou shall have key binds for weapons. Bind keys around your movement keys to pull up weapons. Using the scroll wheel to cycle between weapons is a bad idea as it takes longer to pull up your weapon of choice. IX. Thou shall know thy enemies ammo. Ok, so you don’t have to know exactly how many rockets, rails, grenades, plasma cells and machinegun bullets they have… but the closer your estimate is the better. Knowing how much ammo your enemy has will allow you to know more accurately when to attack and when not to. This skill becomes especially handy on maps that cater heavily towards a strategy of spamming a lot. X. Thou shall give the 1.3 patch a try! The 1.3 patch has fixed quite a few issues that players faced in earlier versions of the game. The big man himself J.C. wants you to give 1.3 a try. (I mean John Carmack, of course.) http://www.gamingjunky.com/article/2006/10...nts-of-quake-4/ Edited November 21, 2006 by Báhdom

K£¥RÖ Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Creo que falta el aprender a escuchar como se debe. El sonido en FPS esta dentro de los primeros puntos, en mi opinión.
