A little used weapon because of it's time requirement the wall of text is a weapon most often used by The Philosopher and the Rebel-leader as well as other verbose warriors.

Essentially the wall of text consist of taking a single line rebutal and turning it into a 50 lines one. The more the better. The text is laid out in a single block with no arrangement at all making for a read like trudging trough a swampy labyrinth. While most Wall of text contain little real material some do surprisingly contain an actual discussion, those that do contain material are even more effecient as the enemy tries to figure out the actual meaning of the Wall of text.

The effect of this weapon is to turn away all non comitted warriors and their allies as well as the normal forum community. Unable to pass the wall or trying to figure it out they give up and move to other threads leaving the remaining warriors alone and without support. It is a very effective tool to kill a thread or defeating warriors who relies on allies. It can also be used to provoke Evil-Clown, the Jerk and other warriors of this type.

In my personal experience, walls of text have prove to be a rather ineffective weapon. I remember this Furious Typer/Ferrous Cranus/Tireless Rebutter hybrid in my old forum who had a perfect technique against Walls of Text.

The only thing he did was to quote the first line of of the text and with a categoric "This is where I stopped reading...", dismissed the whole message, sometimes followed by a mediocre reason to excuse his reply.

The "didn't read this" tactic doesn't go far either. Likely to be grilled for trying to base something (a response) on the first introductory sentence. Unless they have support from other members, the "didn't read all but the first bit" tactic usually dies in the arse, especially when used repetitively. Using history to support their reason that in all likelihood the wall of text is another pile of meaningless rubbish, does work to an extent.

The "Wall of text" contributer would have earlier on in the history of the net, had many whinge about the high signal / noise ratio of their posts, and would have been threatened with removal / restrictions from the group or mailing list.
