En un articulo de Yahoo! Japon, el presidente de SEGA Kenji Matsubara ha dicho que SEGA de japon esta replanteandose la posibilidad de re entrar a la industria del hardware al realanzar su propia linea de consolas retro, en la misma linea que lo ha hecho nintendo con su NES y SNES Classics, el exito abrumador de Nintendo con esos lanzamientos han hecho que SEGA considere volver al mercado de hardware con una linea similar.

SEGA ha estado fuera de la fabricacion de consolas desde 2001, y se han dedicado a ser una compañia de desarrollo de Software.

Aqui lo que dijo el presidente Matsubara:
