La última creación de ID parece estar mas cerca cada día que pasa. Recientemente, tiendas de venta online como EBgames y Gamestop han anunciado el lanzamiento de Doom3 para el día 3 de Agosto, calificándolo de official launch date, es decir, fecha de lanzamiento oficial.

El estudio tejano no ha dicho nada al respecto, ningún tipo de comentario desmintiendo o afirmando así que esto no pasaría de una anécdota, pero el caso es que tiene mucho sentido. Las QuakeCon se celebrarian apenas dos semanas después de la teórica fecha oficial, y recientes comentarios de Jhon Carmack acerca del buen ritmo que llevaba el beta-testing no hacían sino augurar un muy cercano lanzamiento.
